A meaningful occasion in Berlin: at the opening of the Digital Welcome Centre, I had the chance to deliver the keynote on behalf of E K & the good lab – an important launch for a centre that works exactly where counselling is most needed. Through real cases from foundation-funded counselling centres – including a pregnant client who arrived with a ChatGPT-generated piece of employment law advice – it became clear how wide the gap can be between what AI outputs produce and what actually holds up in legal and social terms. This gap does not shrink as models become more capable; it shifts, and it calls for spaces of human interpretation, especially where information can have existential consequences.
